So Apple has finally updated the security issues that many experts had concerns over. In the last few weeks, it had been brought to the attention of many people that you iPhone will store your location information for up to a year. That meant that, even if you had Location Services turned off, your iPhone would track exactly where you were at and store that information in the location database. Now, to the average user, this doesn’t seem to be a big deal. But, if you are concerned with your safety and privacy, having everywhere you have been in the last year stored in a database is scary. And when you sync to your iTunes all of that information has been stored in a file on your computer. That means anyone with access to your computer and iTunes with a little know how could create a list of all of your locations.

Apple updated iOS to 4.3.3 to address this issue. Now, it will only store information for roughly a week, which is much better than a year. You can prevent it from collecting any data at all by turning Location Services off altogether. That is easily done under settings on the iPhone.

Now, the bad news. If you have an iPhone 3G you are out of luck. Apple will no longer officially support the 3G. That means that any and all updates that come out are only for the 3GS and higher. So, if you have an iPhone 4 (AT&T version), iPhone 3GS, iPad , iPad 2, and 3rd and 4th-generation iPod Touch devices, fire up iTunes and download the update. If you have a 3G, keep looking over your shoulder.

And that is probably how they really found Osama Bin Laden, he must have had a 3G iPhone. That will teach you not to upgrade to the newest model.

So I have had my iPhone for a year and a half now and have gone through a number of different cases. That was my first goal when I got the phone, to find an appropriate case. I knew the phone was fragile and probe to break easily so protecting it was of the utmost importance to me.

In my search for the best case, I came across the Otterbox Defender case. Most people would look at it and think that it would be a great application if you work outside, or in construction, a factory, or any other place where your phone could face the precarious 1 foot fall of death. But, the best part of the Otterbox is that it is practical for any situation. You don’t have to be in the middle of a hurricane to risk dropping your phone. No matter how careful you are, the iPhone is a slippery little fellow and will just jump out of your hands at times. Seems it is almost suicidal. You can be sitting at your kitchen table holding the phone, and it will just jump to the floor and shatter it’s own screen into a million little pieces.

So, I got the Otterbox Defender and put it on my phone. I have the all black one and I like to refer to it as the “Darth Vader Case”. It is in 3 separate parts. 2 plastic pieces that encase the phone. The front piece has a screen protector built into it. Then there is a neoprene skin that goes over that. If you remember the first set of Star Wars movies, there is a scene where Vader is in a pod type thing on the Death Star and it is showing his helmet being put on in 3 different parts…..that is why I call it the Darth Vader Case.

As a testament to the Otterbox Defender, once I put the case on for the first time I bravely threw my iPhone across the room (not suggested) to test it out. Sure enough, no problems at all. It does not guarantee that it will never break. I am sure that if it hit just right in that one obscure spot that you would find cracks on your screen. But, it does lessen the chances quite a bit.

If you are accident prone, clumsy, rough on phones, or in general afraid that you may break it then I highly suggest the Otterbox Defender. It costs a little more than your traditional case, but it is worth it.

Angry Birds Rio is the newest installment in the Angry Birds franchise. The game is developed by Rovio and Rio was done in collaboration with 20th Century Fox to help promote their newest movie Rio. Angry Birds Rio uses the same in game mechanics and concepts and follows a similar story line. And yes, it is just as addicting as the original game. As of right now there are only two worlds available, and yes I have beat them both and collected all of the bonuses as well. The next update is in May and I am on the edge of my seat waiting.

The iPhone 5 is at this point still a great mystery. Much the same as the 8th wonder of the world, we are striving and searching for answers as to what it really is. There are so many theories, assumptions, and downright guesses. Apparently, the rumor is that Apple will start mass producing the iPhone 5 in September of this year. I have read and heard different specs ranging from an A5 processor (the same that is used in the iPad 2) all the way to an 8 megapixel camera. As we get closer more details will be leaked. But, in the meantime, enjoy the pictures below of what some people have said the newest incarnation of Apple’s iPhone 5 will look like.
